So… you’re coming to Salamanca? Then you ought to know a bit about it first! But, don’t worry because we are here to help. But this is no everyday, run-of-the-mill information site - this is written for and created by students, to cut out the stuff you don’t need to know, and give you plenty of what you do need.

You might already know that Salamanca is the oldest University town in the whole of Spain, making you the latest lucky bunch of students to walk these famous streets. It also means you will never be lonely with fellow students from all around the world, who, like you, come here to speak Spanish and make new friends. There are always people around to share some tapas and ´copas´ with!

You will soon discover that although Salamanca may be regarded as a city, it has the character and feel of a small town; Everything you could possibly need - from shops to cinemas to libraries – is within walking distance and the warmth and familiarity of “Salamantinos” and foreigners alike will have you feeling settled in no time.

Both traditional Spanish and modern European attitudes happily co-exist here, in a society where young and old sit side by side and the family unit plays a central, invaluable role in daily life. The laid back nature of both the town and the people mean that you will have plenty of time to relax, take things slowly and soak up the culture with a smile on your face.

This is a place where you will soon consider it normal to eat dinner at 10.30pm, where a siesta will become part of your daily routine and where eventually you may even find yourself waving a hand in the air and saying “mañana, mañana...”!
